My name is Emily (but you can call me "E-Dogg").
I am an alumni of both Rock Valley College (2006) and Rockford College (2008).
I have my B.A. Degree in Philosophy/Religious Studies and my A.A. Degree (Art).
I live in Rockford, IL with my mom, my significant other, and my 2 cats, Stinky and Pickle.
[ This "blog" originally started out as a letter to a friend in regards to a poll measuring public opinion of Sarah Palin's ability to be V.P. (which can be seen here: http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html) ]
Anyway, I feel that this whole election is bull-shit because I feel that I am seemingly forced into choosing between a black guy and (or) a woman; both represent minorities (and they're corresponding minority groups) who could help to change America for the better. However, (and I've discussed this at length with some political science folks) I think the best way for this whole thing to emerge would be for the black man to be president before a woman (although in this specific case it is woman as V.P.), just so history can cycle itself (black men got the vote before women). Though it is sometimes said that we are DOOMED to let history repeat itself, I think that history already DOES repeat itself . . . and I suppose the manifestation of this truth may come to be shown.
And I don't always "vote blue" - I'm independent, but I have voted blue in the past ; )
But hey, I'm a little biased because I've met Obama 3 times. What can I say?
I wish that Palin was a little more calm and actually conservative. Then I might consider voting for her; but, you see, I'm a confused mixture of feminist and anti-feminist which is why I label myself as neither.
Honestly, I think women screwed themselves (along with the rest of humanity) when they asked for "equal rights" . . . but I suppose that's just me. You can see the consequences of these "equal rights" in today's media -- and in the economy, as well. We wouldn't be living in poverty if just roughly over HALF of the population were in the workforce (as opposed to ALL males AND females, as we have "fought" to do). I suppose women wanted to be "equal" so they could strip for men . . . and be exploited in virtually every form of advertisement there is (as you can see in our media today). Where IS the "equality"???? It DOESN'T EXIST. It was a "cause" that we "fought for" that we (women) actually had NO SAY IN!!!!!
I suppose that women wanted their tits to be the symbol for sexual "freedom" . . . (which actually enslaves them all the more) . . . I suppose that women wanted to create problems such as "child support," "WIC" (might be called something else in Indiana), and "Link" (food stamps).
I suppose that women wanted to create the concept of the "feminization of poverty," (among others to describe their sad state economically, socially, and politically - not to mention sexually) . . . Palin is an irrelevant joke to me. There are MANY MORE SERIOUS issues pertaining to women that should be discussed today . . . and I think that Palin is a poor mockery of the whole thing.
I don't know if you watched the Republican Convention, but all she seemed to care about was drilling . . . and the fact that her husband is the "first dude."
It's a pop-culture fiasco generated in order to simplify the seriousness surrounding the whole thing .
That's how they've portrayed Obama, too.
Every vote counts, right?
That's why you can count me out (at least this time).
Disillusioned by politics -
Sincerely,
"E-Dogg"
